When making his winners speech Mika expressed satisfaction with his ball striking for the year but promised that by next year he will also be capable of making some putts... the rest of us may need a bit of help if he keeps that promise!
For Kytäjä players it was an exceptional year with matchplay champion Niko Helin finishing in second place (the leading amateur player for the year!) and Andy Fowlie taking 5th position (behind Antti Ulvio of St Laurence and Timo Tuunanen of EGS). The other Kytäjä players who earned ranking points were Sampo Laisi who came 60th, Petri Syrjänen (79th), Sami Markkanen (90th), Kai Kurikka (116th), Riku Roine (141st) and Jouko Hartikainen (142nd).
In the team rankings, made by adding up all the points earned by all the players from each golf club, Kytäjä managed their best ever result, coming second behind runaway leaders Pickala. Kytäjä were the only team that managed to win more points than Mika Piltz did individually. The top 11 teams, plus the host club, will play in the team championship at Alastaro next weekend. Kytäjä will be represented by Niko Helin, Andy Fowlie, Petri Syrjänen and Sami Markkanen.
