In that event the top 30 in the KCT order of merit will fight it out for the KCT Trophy. The ranking points are reset for the final in the same way as the FedEx cup points are reset for the Tour Championship on the PGA Tour, meaning that every player who qualifies for the KCT Tour Championship has a mathematical chance to be the winner of the whole KCT. This certainly makes for an exciting event!
The current rankings, updated after the club championship and including the latest matchplay results, can be seen below. The top 30 (currently in position to make it to the KCT Tour Championship) are pictured, if you click on the picture you can find the full rankings.
Once the NW course kk-kisa has been concluded the KCT points for the final two kk-kisa events and also the overall kk-kisa standings will be counted. In that competition the scoring has been very impressive, with many rounds of over 40 points. Timo Kohonen, Jesper Grimbergen and Sami Kaunismäki have been able to have very good scores on a repeated basis and are setting a pretty tough target for anyone who wishes to challenge for the overall kk-kisa (my scores of 38, 37, 38, 37 and 34 points are simply not good enough).
For anyone who is still competing in any of our matchplay competitions, all results which are completed by 14th September will be included to the KCT rankings to determine the top 30. Any results which come after that will not count for the KCT. For any incomplete matchplay competitions the player receives "the amount of points they would receive if they lost the next match" for the purposes of calculating the KCT order of merit.
The final chance for everyone to earn KCT points in 2013 comes with the Kytäjä Trophy on 14th September. Enter now to take advantage of this opportunity to climb the rankings!
The nights are closing in early now, which makes it difficult to play "after work" rounds of golf. Last night I teed off at 16:35 for my final kk-kisa round and it was pretty dark and strangely misty by the time we were finishing out on the 18th.
Until the next time.
