The 2015 European Mid-Amateur Championship (players over 30 years of age) is played at Golfclub Hubbelrath, near to Dusseldorf in Germany. There is a strong Finnish presence at the event with 10 Finns in the field including Niko Helin from Kytäjä. The second Kytäjä player in the event is Andy Fowlie, the only Scottish representative in the field.

The course is a very challenging one with a strong emphasis on hitting the fairways. There are many dog-leg holes, many holes where you cannot see the landing area from the tee and many of the landing areas are sloped in such a way as to make things more difficult (e.g. right to left dog-leg where the landing area slopes very much left to right). Another real factor for the players is the amount of hills, the course is not particularly long (less than 6300m) but it is a very tough task just to get yourself and your clubs around the course. Many players have commented that it is the most physically difficult course they have ever played... and this may increase the amount of mistakes towards the end of each round as tiredness becomes a bigger factor than usual.
