The winner, with a round of 73(+1) was Jani Savukoski (PGC). Kytäjä was represented by Andy Fowlie (76 - T6th), Petri Syrjänen (87 - T55th) and Jouko Hartikainen (89 - T70th).
The weather was pretty much perfect for much of the time, bright sunshine with enough of a wind to make it challenging and also to keep you from being completely roasted by the sun... but towards the end of the event play was suspended due to a thunderstorm... a hell of a lot of water fell in a short time! The following picture was taken at the time by Andy Fowlie (while sheltering under a tree).
Well, this was nearly a good round. As can be seen from my card below, the first hole (which was my tenth hole of the day) was the problem. This triple bogey came out of nowhere... I had 210m to the flag for my second shot, from the middle of the fairway and just hit a poor shot - left with a draw - and it went into the edge of the forest. I found the ball but it was unplayable down a hole, I dropped out, played over the green into a bad lie, chipped it on and three putted for the triple bogey. That was the tournament right there... par would have got me into a playoff, birdie would have got me a win (if everything else went the same way).
Otherwise my game was pretty good, I had 4 or 5 putts which were as close to going in as it is possible to be without actually going in and I feel like the same shot I hit could easily have taken me round in under par... but not this time.
After the disappointment of the triple bogey on the first I was quite pleased with the birdie-par-birdie finish which helped me into 6th place in the event and kept me in a good position in the Audi Tour rankings. I have been very consistent in the Audi Tour over the past year or so, that was my 9th consecutive finish in the top 8 in Audi Tour events. The next event is in Alastaro, I like the course very much and have won there before, so hopefully I can get it right when the Audi Tour visits that course.
