Last week's excitement was the conclusion of the first ever Kytäjä Club Tour... I would have a lot to say about that but seeing as Markku Nokso-Koivisto already made a great report on that event, in Finnish, I will instead just encourage you to read his words. The only thing that I would add is my personal congratulations to Hannu Haimakainen for becoming the first ever KCT winner.
This weekend also sees a number of competitions come to a close. The last matchplay final of 2012, for the Nelipallo Cup, will be played on Sunday on the South-East course. In that match Timo Rikkonen and I will battle against Petri Syrjänen and Jukka Kymäläinen. In addition all the eclectic competitions (mens and ladies) also come to an end on Sunday... so this weekend is your last chance to push for a prize in those events.
The mens eclectic has been something of an experiment... I was not sure if people would get interested in the format (although I enjoy it a lot myself) but I wanted to give it a try. Once I saw that the competition was going to be a success (and likely to continue in future) I decided that there should be some permanent trophies to play for.
When thinking about what the trophies should be I wanted to get something that was a bit different to all the other trophies, something that was noticeably Finnish and something that was a good fit to the format of the competition. One thing that is needed to be successful in the Eclectic is a lot of birdies... and when thinking of "Finnish birdies" the designs of Oiva Toikka came to my mind so I decided to make some trophies out ot two of his creations (one for the scratch winner, one for the handicap winner.
The results can be seen in the picture below...
The eclectic competitions end on Sunday 30th September and the winners will receive their prizes at the prizegiving (on October 6th after the end of play in the Päätöskilpailu).
